Torts: Text and Cases is a unique book designed to give students an introduction to the substantive rules of common law torts as well as the leading cases in which those rules have been developed and applied. Professor Daly's hybrid approach draws on the strengths of two different types of textbook – the general introduction and the casebook – to deliver an accessible and comprehensive overview of the subject of torts. Short chapters explaining the core concepts of torts, such as defamation, negligence and vicarious liability, are followed by extracts from key cases which allow students to observe how the concepts are used and found in judicial decisions.

Paul Daly is Associate Dean (Faculty Affairs and Continuing Education) and Secretary of the Faculty of Law, Université de Montréal. Professor Daly holds law degrees from University College Cork in his native Ireland, the University of Pennsylvania Law School, which he attended as a Fulbright Scholar, and the University of Cambridge. He spent 2009-2010 as a visiting researcher at Harvard Law School and taught or tutored previously at University College Cork, the University of Cambridge and the University of Ottawa. Professor Daly is the author of numerous articles in leading Canadian and international law journals and the award-winning blog, Administrative Law Matters.
